Impossible Foods is seeking an Associate Manager for Co-Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality. The role involves overseeing third-party manufacturers to ensure quality, safety, and compliance standards are met. Key responsibilities include collaborating with R&D and production teams, monitoring KPIs, conducting food safety inspections, and developing training programs for co-manufacturers. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field, 2-5 years of leadership experience in food safety, and knowledge of GMPs, sanitation practices, FDA regulations, and GFSI scheme standards. Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate with R&D and production teams to ensure product consistency and adherence to quality standards.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, defect rates, and customer complaints, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review and ensure that corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are effectively implemented to address quality concerns, working closely with co-manufacturers.
- Conduct routine and ad hoc food safety inspections to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of audits, inspections, and quality reports for internal use and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure proper documentation is prepared and maintained for regulatory submissions, certifications, and audits.
- Develop and deliver training programs for co-manufacturers to enhance food safety and quality practices.
- Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and production teams to align on quality expectations and ensure seamless execution.
- Communicate quality expectations, performance metrics, and feedback to co-manufacturers to foster accountability and improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned, which are representative of the nature and level of work required for this role.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of leadership experience in food safety within a food manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of GMPs, sanitation practices, FDA regulations, and GFSI scheme standards.
- Proven experience with:
- Exceptional collaborative, reporting, and communication skills, with the ability to influence, lead, and develop others through effective training initiatives.
- Hands-on approach with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Documentation review covers both written and electronic documentations. The document review area includes quality, food safety, sensory, preventative maintenance, and shipping.
- Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time to manufacturing sites and storage warehouses, including on short notice.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to dynamic environments and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of food safety and quality systems.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams or projects.
- Additional certifications in food safety or quality management (e.g., HACCP, PCQI).
