How we'll deliver success:
Shippo is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Carrier Operations Specialist  to join our Carrier Operations Team. You’ll report to the Carrier Operations manager and you’ll play a critical part in managing pricing operations, investigating variances, and supporting carrier rate card implementations. It’s a great fit for someone who thrives in data-rich environments, loves solving complex problems, and brings a strong generalist mindset to operational challenges.We're looking for a hands-on problem solver—someone who takes initiative, owns issues end-to-end, and doesn't shy away from ambiguity. You’ll work cross-functionally with Finance, Product, and Engineering to ensure accurate pricing and seamless reconciliation workflows across our carrier partnerships. Your 90 day, 6 month, and 1 year goals will be based on your ability to help reduce rate variances and gain visibility into potential data  / reporting gaps.

Shipping & handling responsibilities:

    • Variance Investigations & Dispute Resolution
    • Support end-to-end investigations into pricing discrepancies, identifying root causes and ensuring resolution
    • Analyze Carrier pricing variances and partner with Finance on data reconciliation and dispute outcomes (USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc) 
    • Maintain detailed variance reports and provide clear visibility to internal stakeholders
    • Develop SOPs and playbooks to drive consistency and reduce manual processes
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to fix recurring issues and improve workflows
    • Rate Card & Pricing Operations
    • Manage the rate card / pricing setup and QA lifecycle, ensuring clean and accurate data ingestion
    • Format, validate, and maintain rate cards; resolve data issues in collaboration with internal teams
    • Work closely with the RATE Team, Finance, and Engineering to streamline pricing workflows
    • Support carrier contract hosting and implementation efforts.

    • Take ownership of challenges, even those outside your direct scope
    • Work cross functionally across operations, product, and finance to uncover and address inefficiencies
    • Maintain a systems-level view to understand the broader impact of your work
    • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
    • Process Improvement & Data Analysis
    • Use SQL (basic level is fine) to query and validate pricing data
    • Leverage Looker and Databricks for variance monitoring, reporting, and dashboard creation
    • Propose process enhancements and automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency
    • Maintain documentation including Jira tickets, SOPs, and knowledge bases

Do you tick the boxes?

    • Must-Have Skills & Experience
    • Working knowledge of SQL for querying and validating data
    • Experience using Looker and Databricks for analytics and reporting
    • Proficient with Jira for tracking workflows and Salesforce for carrier data
    • Strong command of GSuite tools (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
    • Comfortable working in Slack for daily communication
    • Strong analytical mindset and self-starter attitude
    • Proven ability to take initiative and drive resolution independently
    • Preferred Qualifications
    • 2-5 years of experience in operations, pricing, logistics, or a related field
    • A generalist mindset—willing and eager to take on diverse challenges
    • Familiarity with carrier pricing, rate card processes, or financial reconciliation is a plus
    • Experience working in high-growth, fast-changing environments
    • USPS or other small parcel experience a strong plus

$75,000 - $101,000 a year
Our Compensation Shippolicy:
We believe compensation is a custom experience and are commited to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard base pay range for this role is min is $75k to a max $101k annual salary. We tend to anchor our pay in the middle of this range ($88k). Since we are focused on hiring Shippos Everywhere, we have 2 US pay ranges, a standard compensation range for the majority of the US and a standard +1 compensation range for those who live in areas where the cost of labor is higher, such as NYC and California.
The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: financial budgets, work experience, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market value. The base pay salary ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future. Total compensation for this role will include, equity, medical, dental, vision and other benefits noted in our Shippos “package” section.
