The Motley Fool is looking for a highly skilled Freelance Fullstack Developer with strong Python, React and Next.JS skills.

This is a senior-level, independent contractor role that requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. We’re anticipating 40 hours per week for this role over at least a 6 month period, but there is a potential for this contract to extend.

The role is 100% remote. However, candidates must be located in the United States for consideration.

But what does that even mean?! It means we’re helping Fools (always with a capital “F”) demystify the world of finance, beat the stock market, and achieve personal wealth and happiness through our products and services.

The Motley Fool is firmly committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity. We are a motley group of overachievers that have built a culture of trust founded on Foolishness, fun, and a commitment to making the world smarter, happier and richer.  However you identify or whatever winding road has led you to us, please don't hesitate to apply if the description above leaves you thinking, "Hey! I could do that!"

What does this team do?

  • Work with UX designers to provide feedback on UX designs.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers to ensure smooth API integrations and service interconnectivity.
  • Assist in evolving applications supporting our Amazon Connect call center, focusing on AI/ML integrations and enhanced functionalities.
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and adaptability in a dynamic and evolving project environment.
  • Show enthusiasm for mentoring and skill development within the team, particularly in technical and project-related areas.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven mid-level to senior experience in front end development using ReactJs and NextJs.
  • Strong experience using Python.
  • Experience using LLM API's including OpenAI or Anthropic
  • Experience using TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling, partial page updates.
  • Hands-on experience with coding and application development within an AWS environment, including a strong understanding of Lambda and API Gateway.
  • Effective online collaboration skills, comfortable in a fully remote setup, and proficient in asynchronous communication.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience engaging in personal investments in the stock market and/or a solid understanding of The Motley Fool’s tools and services.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Playwright or Cypress automation tools.
  • Experience engaging in personal investments in the stock market.
  • Experience with NodeJs.
  • Experience with Electron applications.
  • Experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Compensation:

Below is our target compensation range. While we are budget conscious, we’re also eager to find the right person for this role, so if your target is outside of this range, please don’t hesitate to apply and we’d be happy to have a conversation.

Hourly Pay Range

$90 - $105 USD
