Hi, we're DuckDuckGo, the online protection company and remote-first team of 300+ on a mission to raise the standard of trust online. Founded in 2008 and profitable since 2014, annual revenue now exceeds $100m USD and millions use our browser on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, our search engine, and the latest — Privacy Pro. Our culture of trust, inclusivity, and empowered project management underpins everything we do, where each team member takes full ownership of their projects, from scoping and execution to postmortem. If you're seeking end-to-end ownership of your work — you've come to the right place!

Your Team and Role

Working on the Design Functional Team, you'll lead the way and be a tastemaker that helps us differentiate our brand across product, marketing, and related projects. Examples of projects you might lead or collaborate on include:

  • Generating brand differentiating ideas for new marketing campaigns across billboards and TV ads.

  • Rolling up your sleeves to lead by example in design tools like Figma to generate ways for our brand to delight and shine during moments in the product like onboarding or product landing pages.

As a Director, Brand Design, you'll be responsible for coordinating the evolution and alignment of our brand and marketing efforts across channels, platforms, and product areas, leading development of marketing design strategy and roadmaps, and overseeing seamless integration of our brand in the overall product experience. This pivotal role requires leveraging objective, data-driven, and user-centric methodologies to drive decisions that lead to measurable impact.

Leading by example, you'll take a hands-on approach to working closely with team members across professional levels, identifying new high-impact opportunities, then guiding a team of cross-functional stakeholders and contributors through its execution.

About You

  • 10+ years of experience in design with a focus brand and marketing.

  • 4+ years in relevant leadership-level design positions (e.g., Director, Principal) at significant global consumer brands and user-facing apps.

  • Demonstrable experience translating company goals into design solutions across both marketing communication and in-product branding moments (e.g., landing pages and onboarding).

  • Experience generating creative ideas that define roadmaps and create brand alignment across product and marketing.

  • A hands-on leadership style — you're effective in executing the most complex design work as an individual contributor, leading by demonstrating solutions in design tools like Figma or crafting recommendations for our design system.

  • Exceptional creativity and attention to detail with a strong aesthetic sensibility and intuition.

  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and/or managing teams or individuals.

  • Proficiency in research and experimentation — you can leverage qualitative and quantitative data to drive decisions forward.

Compensation

$243,800 USD annually and stock options. Compensation is identical within professional levels, regardless of geographic location or team. Compensation for each professional level is transparent across the organization.
