As Director of Product - Aggregation, you will lead the team in enhancing financial data integrations, managing partnerships with key data providers, and driving product strategy. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements, clarify technical constraints, and ensure alignment on goals. With a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and efficiency, you will optimize performance and continuously improve aggregation systems. Monarch offers flexible remote work options, competitive cash and equity compensation, and benefits such as unlimited PTO and medical, dental, and vision coverage. If you are passionate about building a company that both customers and employees love, apply now to join the Monarch team.

About Us

Monarch came out of private beta in early 2021. Since that time we have quickly become one of the premier ways to manage your financial life. Customers love the product and we have seen rapid, organic growth. Our users say that Monarch helps them feel more confident in their finances, and more confident in their financial future.

Our founding team consists of product-driven, serial entrepreneurs with multiple exits. Additionally, our CEO was one of the original creators of Mint.com and has a unique perspective on what is needed to meet consumers' needs in this market.

We are passionate about building a company, product and brand that both customers and employees love. We are well-funded by top venture firms and angel investors.

We founded the company as a fully-remote team (pre Covid!) and are open to applicants that live within a 5 hour time zone difference of US Pacific Time.

About the Role:

Reliable data connectivity is the foundation of our business at Monarch. Everything we do relies on enabling our members to connect all of their financial institutions to Monarch, and to ensure that those connections are seamless and reliable. Monarch is already best-in-class when it comes to financial data aggregation. However, the problem is far from solved and there is a lot more work to be done. As the Director of Product - Aggregation you will be responsible for leading the aggregation team to further enhance all aspects of our members’ experience around their financial data.

Responsibilities:

  • Execution & Roadmap Ownership: Lead the execution of the product roadmap for aggregation, focusing on enhancing the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our financial data integrations. Define milestones, prioritize initiatives, and ensure successful delivery which can be measured.

  • Partnership Management: Manage and build relationships with key data providers like Plaid, Finicity, and MX. Ensure smooth integrations and high connection success rates ensuring efficient and reliable data aggregation. Evaluate and integrate new partners as warranted.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, design, data science, and other product teams to define requirements, clarify technical constraints, and ensure alignment on goals. Be the go-to expert for all things related to financial data aggregation.

  • AI & Innovation: Decide how we will incorporate innovations in AI to help solve this problem.

  • Ownership of KPIs: Take responsibility for key product metrics (e.g., connection success rates, data quality, system performance) and continuously optimize performance. Track progress, identify gaps, and develop data-driven solutions to improve aggregation systems.

  • Optimize for Scalability: Work closely with engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and ensure the platform scales effectively as Monarch Money grows. Ensure the aggregation platform can support increasing user demand while maintaining data accuracy and reliability.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, demonstrating skills in managing complex data systems

  • Strong technical understanding of data integration platforms, APIs, and third-party services. Experience with financial APIs  such as Plaid, Finicity, or MX is a strong plus.

  • Familiar with best practices and emerging technologies around AI data classification and enrichment

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about scaling complex systems and improving user experience.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders without direct authority. Able to collaborate effectively with engineering, design, and other product teams.

  • A hands-on, results-oriented approach with a proven track record of driving successful product initiatives in a startup or fast-paced environment.

Technologies or Knowledge of:

  • Experience working in an environment with a large number of 3rd party data integrations

  • Strong technical background. Must be familiar with APIs, data pipelines, and data architecture.

  • Knowledge of frontend user journey and UX principles, important for creating an engaging and intuitive user experience.

  • Experience with AI and data tools for effective categorization and problem-solving, in line with our aim to provide clarity and control over personal finances.
