We are looking for an Engineering Manager to facilitate learning, excellence and delivery within Spotify's Ads Business Unit. In this role, you will be instrumental in growing the team and guiding software development to successfully scale and build ad delivery formats and infrastructure. You will help us define and materialize our monetization vision to improve the ad experience for our listeners and advertisers alike, and grow our advertising business to be market leader. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music.
What You’ll Do
Develop people and teams through coaching, mentoring, and management support
Facilitate collaboration with other engineers, product managers, and designers to solve interesting and challenging problems across our ad platform
Guide and facilitate engineering technology architecture decisions for product development
Advocate for and support better development practices (CI/CD, testing, operational efficiency, etc.)
Grow the technical expertise of your team around quality, scalability, performance, and fault tolerance using innovative tools
Advocate and promote leadership at all levels within the larger engineering community
Determine staffing needs for open roles and work closely with the recruitment team to hire and onboard engineers as needed
Who You Are
You love developing and growing people and have had some experience doing so
You are experienced with leading, coaching, and mentoring individuals and teams be as a first time manager or as a tech lead
You are knowledgeable and passionate about software development
You follow modern engineering practices and ideally contribute to the software development community
You have a good understanding of development practices across client and backend platforms
You have a good understanding of quality and testing best practices and frameworks
You may have experience supporting external APIs and/or developer communities
You may have experience working on large-scaled distributed backend systems that require high availability and scalability
You understand agile principles and their intrinsic benefits
You preferably have worked in an agile development environment
You have experience facilitating delivery of large scale initiatives involving more than one team or technologies
Java experience would be phenomenal but not a requirement
RESTful API experience is required

We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the Americas region as long as we have a work location.
This team operates within the Eastern time zone for collaboration.
The United States base range for this position is $122,716 - $175,308 plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
