Job Summary
The Indirect Tax Intern will assist the Indirect tax team with sales and use tax returns, state compliance, monthly close process, state tax audits, property tax filings, maintaining company tax records and files. The internship requires 20-28 hours of work per week, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. The ideal candidate has basic knowledge of accounting and tax, good time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills. Microsoft Office proficiency is required, with the ability to learn new programs. The internship is a hybrid office/work-from-home opportunity, working 2 days per week at the San Antonio headquarters. The anticipated start date is February 2025, for a four-month internship with possible extension. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Basic knowledge of accounting and tax.
- Good time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills.
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and the ability to learn new programs.
JOB COMPLEXITY
- Assists with the preparation of monthly Sales and Use Tax returns.
- Prepares monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintains company tax records and files.
- Provide audit assistance by pulling and organizing requested information from auditors.
- Process and validate exemption certificates while providing Fanatical Support to our customers and billing team.
- Prepares and updates statistical and financial reports, both on a regular and specially assigned basis.
- Performs tax research as needed.
- Organizes data in Excel.
- Operates under close supervision, with careful review of completed assignments.
EXPERIENCE
- Junior or Senior student pursuing a Bachelor's degree or a Graduate student pursuing a Master's degree in accounting or finance.
- Experience with tax compliance or accounting is preferred.
- Additional qualifications include a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and a detail-oriented, well-organized individual with excellent verbal and written skills.
