Overview 

The Create:Editor Extensions team is part of the Create Stage in the Dev Sub-department. The Create stage focuses on multiple categories: Editor Extensions, Gitlab Language Server, Code Creation & Code Suggestions, Remote Development, Source Code and Code Review.

About The Team

We build AI-powered Editor Extensions that support developers directly in their integrated development environments (IDEs), which is where developers spend most of their time. 

Our GitLab Editor Extension Suite includes extensions for VS Code, JetBrains, Visual Studio, NeoVim, and Eclipse (coming soon). We write solutions in TypeScript, Kotlin, Lua, C# and Ruby.

We're seeking a talented Full Stack Engineer to join our innovative team. You will help shape the future of developer tools while working in a fully remote, globally distributed environment.

You will be working on the VS Code extension and the Gitlab Language Server

What You'll Do

  • Build and enhance AI-powered features for GitLab platform using TypeScript &  Ruby
  • Collaborate with product and cross-functional engineering teams
  • Contribute to both frontend and backend development of our core product
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to ensure high-quality solutions

What We're Looking For

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Solid experience with Ruby on Rails and API development
  • Demonstrated interest in AI/ML technologies and their practical applications
  • Experience with Git and understanding of DevOps practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Bonus Points

  • Contributions to open-source projects
  • Experience with large language models or AI frameworks
  • Knowledge of Lua, Python, C#, Kotlin or Rust
  • Knowledge of Vue.js, React or Next.js

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.

$98,000 - $210,000 USD
