RootstockLabs is seeking a Lead Scrum Master to join their team in Europe. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile leader, with expertise in Agile frameworks and collaboration tools. They will be responsible for driving Agile practices, mentoring other Scrum Masters, and supporting Product Squads in delivering exceptional results. The role requires strong collaboration, facilitation, and coaching skills, as well as strategic thinking and hands-on execution. ABOUT THE ROLE

We seek an experienced Lead Scrum Master to join RootstockLabs and play a critical role in enabling high-performing Agile teams. You will support our Product Squads in delivering exceptional results, mentor other Scrum Masters to elevate their capabilities, and strategically advance Agile practices across the organisation. At the same time we expect from you to lead a team of at least two other Scrum Master and help the VP of Engineering to implement agile initiatives-

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on fostering collaboration, driving innovation, and taking ownership of outcomes. You will focus on refining ways of working, optimising delivery processes, and building a culture of continuous improvement in a remote, multicultural environment. Your expertise will enable squads to achieve their goals efficiently while aligning with the organisation’s mission to innovate in blockchain and cryptocurrency.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Agile Leadership & Mentoring

  • Drive ‘’State of Agile’’ quarterly reviews to assess and enhance Agile working methods, identifying improvement opportunities and cultural growth.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to define and achieve quarterly Objectives, Key Results (OKRs), and associated deliverables.
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine and implement Agile strategies that support the organisation’s evolving needs.
  • Act as a role model for Agile excellence, fostering trust, collaboration, and ownership within squads.
  • Lead other Scrum Masters, enhancing their facilitation, coaching, and Agile leadership skills.

Squad Enablement & Agile Delivery

  • Support Product Squads in aligning OKRs with RootstockLabs priorities, ensuring consistent delivery of high-value outcomes.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, driving team alignment and continuous improvement.
  • Resolve impediments (specific & thematic) quickly and effectively, enabling squads to maintain momentum and meet sprint goals.
  • Refine team workflows and implement best practices that balance speed and quality in delivery.

Facilitation of Agile Practices

  • Embed Agile principles and frameworks tailored to the unique needs of blockchain product development.
  • Promote iterative planning and delivery processes that optimise collaboration across teams and functions.
  • Work with Product Managers, Business Analysts and Tech Leads to improve backlog refinement and ensure that work aligns with OKRs and customer needs.

Metrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and analyse Agile metrics such as velocity, cycle time, and team health, using insights to improve performance.
  • Facilitate retrospectives and reviews, driving actionable changes that enhance squad productivity and morale.
  • Introduce creative and practical solutions to optimise Agile processes and align with objectives.

Collaboration in a Multicultural Environment

  • Build strong relationships within a multicultural environment, fostering mutual understanding and respect.
  • Address cross-functional and cultural challenges constructively, maintaining alignment on goals and deliverables.
  • Leverage remote collaboration tools such as Jira, Miro, Notion, and Slack to ensure transparency and engagement.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

Technical/Functional Skills

  • 7–10 years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile leader, including 2–3 years mentoring or coaching other Scrum Masters.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Scrumban, Kanban) and their application in diverse team contexts.
  • Proven ability to interpret Agile metrics and use data to drive measurable delivery and team performance improvements.
  • Proficiency in Agile collaboration tools such as Jira, Notion, Miro, and Slack.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM) or equivalent certification; additional Agile Coaching or Leadership certifications are preferred.
  • Experience in blockchain or cryptocurrency industries is highly desirable but optional.
