We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team in India. The candidate will require a strong all-around knowledge of payroll, accounting, and finance. As this position is an independent contributor, the successful candidate will be a confident independent worker with the ability to manage time effectively. Candidates will also need to be flexible to enable collaboration with global teams across multiple time zones. Initially, the role will be remote but will transition to working from our new Hyderabad office once it is operational. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, including Accounts Payable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. They will also provide support for global Finance/Accounting efforts, assist in global financial reporting and analysis, and partner with global teams to standardize and improve financial processes and systems. We value strong critical thinking skills, a proactive approach to process improvement, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a similar role, preferably in a multinational environment, and be familiar with Indian accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations. Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team in India. Reporting to the Manager, International Finance. The candidate will require a strong all-around knowledge of payroll, accounting, and finance. As this position is an independent contributor, the successful candidate will be a confident independent worker with the ability to manage time effectively. Candidates will also need to be flexible to enable collaboration with global teams across multiple time zones. Initially, the role will be remote but will transition to working from our new Hyderabad office once it is operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Initial one-off tasks.
- Sourcing and implementing cloud-based payroll software.
- Assisting with the transition of existing and/or registration of filing portals for taxes, pensions and other filings currently managed by external accounting support
- India Finance & Accounting Operations:
- Manage day-to-day financial operations for the India entity, including Accounts Payable, calculating and processing payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Manage and report for GST, TDS, Payroll taxes and other applicable taxes.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with local regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with external consultants, auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure statutory compliance and filings.
- Global Support:
- Provide support for global Finance/Accounting efforts, including consolidations, audits, intercompany pricing, and special projects.
- Assist in global financial reporting and analysis as required.
- Partner with global teams to standardize and improve financial processes and systems.
- Transfer Pricing calculation based on agreed rates.
- Business Partnering:
- Function as a trusted advisor to local and global stakeholders on accounting and finance-related matters.
- Support the setup of financial processes and systems for the India office, ensuring alignment with global practices.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency and financial performance.
- Collaborate with local external accountants to ensure all required filings and reporting are complete and timely.
- Operational Transition:
- Work remotely until the Hyderabad office is operational, with the expectation of transitioning to in-office work.
- Assist with financial setup and compliance requirements during the office establishment phase.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CA, CMA, CPA) preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a similar role, preferably in a multinational environment.
- Strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations (e.g., GST, TDS).
- Experience with financial software (preferably NetSuite) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with global teams.
- Strong critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to process improvement.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Work Environment
