About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to own and shape the design system for one of Canada’s top fintech companies. As Senior Design Systems & UI Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in building and maintaining KOHO’s design system across web, mobile, and marketing experiences, ensuring pixel-perfect execution, usability, and scalability.
This is more than a systems role—you’ll craft high-impact UI, refine KOHO’s design language, and work at the intersection of brand and product design. You’ll define governance, component architecture, and adoption strategies, partnering with product designers, engineers, and brand teams to ensure consistency, performance, and accessibility across all platforms.
If you're passionate about designing scalable systems that drive real impact, thrive at the intersection of systems thinking and UI craft, and want to build something foundational for millions of users, this is the role for you.
This role reports to the Director of Design (Brand) and collaborates closely with Product Design, Engineering, and Marketing teams.
What You’ll Do

- Define component properties, states, and interactions to ensure flexibility, usability, and cross-platform consistency.
- Continuously audit and refine system components to meet evolving business and user needs.
- Define and implement governance models, including contribution frameworks, to ensure consistency, maintainability, and efficient scaling of the design system.
Visual and Systems-Level Craft

- Develop clear and comprehensive documentation, including guidelines, component specs, and usage best practices to enable teams to scale design efficiently.
- Manage updates to the design system Figma libraries, ensuring consistency across files and teams. Communicate changes through release notes and system updates to keep product designers, brand designers, and engineers aligned.
- Create design tokens and frameworks that help bridge the gap between design and development, ensuring a scalable, high-quality implementation.
- Provide regular updates to product designers, brand designers, and engineers on design system changes, adoption, and upcoming improvements.
- Establish feedback loops to collect input from designers and developers, refining the system based on team needs and real-world usage.
