The big picture: Axios is a modern media company dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format.We are hiring a Senior Director of Client Partnerships to join our growing local advertising team on the east coast!

Why it matters: The Senior Director will work with new and existing partners to grow Axios Locals’ revenue through a variety of products ranging from native content, email marketing and events. You will act as a brand ambassador for certain Axios Local markets and proactively network across those markets and create new opportunities. You will develop and maintain trusted, strategic relationships with local agencies and client partners.

Zoom in: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios’ mission. This is a high-energy role that requires superior communication skills, an ability to understand partner business priorities and develop creative solutions, and a proven ability to generate leads. Ideal candidates will also have the following skills:

  • 7+ years experience in sales, digital media, consulting, or marketing

  • Experience selling or managing books of business for local/regional advertising or digital media clients 

  • Familiarity with the local advertisers in their city’s market

  • Knowledge of digital media, online marketing technology, and Axios’ competitive landscape

  • Highly collaborative with a proven track record of forming strong working relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels  

  • Willingness to travel and attend social events and engagements during evening hours

Starting base salary for this role is in the range of $93,000 - $123,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.

Note that this role’s total compensation includes incremental variable compensation, which is contingent upon the successful achievement of predetermined sales targets
