This is a remote position that requires a significant amount of work in front of a computer monitor and may involve periods of stress and some after-hours or weekend work.

Job Summary

Nextech is committed to delivering secure, scalable, and innovative IT solutions. As we continue to modernize our technology stack, we are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to optimize and secure our Microsoft 365 environment while leveraging advanced security tools from CrowdStrike, Zscaler, and Abnormal Security. 

 

The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Microsoft 365 and Windows-based infrastructure. You will work closely with IT security and network teams to enhance system security, improve performance, and support enterprise applications. This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Intune, and Azure AD, with a strong focus on security, automation, and system reliability.

Essential Functions

  • Essential Functions: In addition to working in accordance with appropriate conduct and behavioral standards, specific responsibilities of this role include: 

  • Microsoft 365 Administration 

  • Manage and optimize Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) 

  • Configure and enforce security policies. 

  • Use Intune (Endpoint Manager) for device management and compliance enforcement. 

  • Windows & Azure AD Infrastructure 

  • Support and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory (AD), and Azure AD environments. 

  • Implement and manage Group Policies (GPOs), identity protection, and access controls. 

  • Ensure Azure AD Conditional Access and MFA policies align with security best practices. 

  • Security & Threat Protection 

  • Integrate and manage CrowdStrike Falcon for endpoint detection and response (EDR) 

  • Deploy and optimize Zscaler for secure web filtering and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) 

  • Work with Abnormal Security to enhance email security and phishing prevention. 

  • Collaborate with the Security team to monitor SIEM logs, investigate alerts, and remediate threats. 

  • Automation & Performance Optimization 

  • Develop PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks and improve efficiency. 

  • Optimize Windows and Microsoft 365 performance, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime. 

  • Manage patching and updates using Microsoft Update Management and Intune 

  • Technical Support & Collaboration 

  • Act as an escalation point for complex system issues and service requests. 

  • Work closely with IT Security, Networking, and Application teams to ensure system security and compliance. 

  • Provide documentation, training, and knowledge-sharing for IT team members. 

  • MacOS & Apple Product Administration 

  • Manage, patch, and configure MacOS and iPadOS via JAMF Pro 

  • Support and maintain MacOS and iPadOS operating systems.

  •  Responsibilities as assigned based on business need.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration 

  • Strong expertise in Azure AD, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive 

  • Hands-on experience with Intune for device and application management

  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and system administration 

  • Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), Conditional Access, and MFA policies 

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in Windows OS, networking, and cloud-based services 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CrowdStrike Falcon for endpoint security 

  • Knowledge of Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Private Access (ZPA) 

  • Familiarity with Abnormal Security for advanced email threat protection 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Exchange, PowerShell, and Active Directory 

  • Microsoft Certifications (e.g., MS-102, AZ-104, or SC-300) are a plus. 

Working Environment/Physical Demands

  • This is a remote position. 

  • Periods of stress may occur.
