About this Opportunity
As an API developer, you will be a core member of one of several cross-functional teams building software in an agile environment. As practitioners of Scrum, we empower teams to set and achieve their sprint goals while continually improving the team dynamic from sprint to sprint. You will work with our core data and various 3rd-party integrations for the consumer, enterprise, partner, and affiliate marketplaces. You will work closely with co-founders on improving our critical infrastructures to drive business growth. Lastly, we will give you the opportunity to address critical issues in big data, e-commerce services, and information security. Let’s learn and win together!
What you’ll do:
25% - Write clean and performant code for our backend data service RESTful APIs to ensure data flows from our 3rd party vendors.
30% - Support data access needs for multiple databases to support our critical infrastructure.
25% - Collaborate with product owners, QA, and DevOps across Scrum teams to deliver #Data4Good to our users.
20% - Create and maintain API usage documentation and flow diagrams.
The skills you'll have:
Required - A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
Required - A strong background in search-related products or features using either OpenSearch, ElasticSearch, Lucene, or Solr.
Required - 4+ years of development experience in web applications and/or backend APIs
Required - 2+ years using SQL and NoSQL technologies
Required - Experience implementing and troubleshooting high-usage, high-throughput systems
Required - Experience optimizing application performance and database queries.
Required - Experience developing with cloud services, AWS recommended.
Preferred - A good understanding of data integration and ETL processes, with experience working with APIs and data ingestion.
Preferred - Familiarity with big data processing frameworks and related technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Airflow, and Data Lakes.
Preferred - 2+ years of development experience with Ruby on Rails, Javascript, or Node.js.
