What Product Management is like at Gusto:
We’re looking for high-autonomy, entrepreneurial Product Managers to come build high-impact solutions for small businesses and their employees. We believe in high-ownership Product Managers who operate like business owners - owning an entire roadmap end to end and shipping product all the way from strategy through to the nitty gritty details (some describe this kind of role as a “GM” type role).
Our Product team is lean, which means you’ll have a high degree of impact and ownership.
We’re here to serve small and medium businesses. Gusto has a strong mission-driven culture, and we care deeply about lifting up these business owners.
About the Team:
The AI Platform’s mission is to build AI Agents that make small business owners 10x more powerful. This team operates as a startup-within-a-startup, led by Gusto’s co-founder/Head of Technology.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
Ownership: The product roadmap and execution for Gus - Gusto’s agentic, conversational assistant. This includes the routing layer and the internal CMS to create and manage sub-agents to give Gus new skills.
North Star: Make our customers and users more efficient via Gus. Drive Gus adoption with end users and expand Gus’s skills by driving adoption of the internal Gus CMS.
Collaborate: Lead your pod of engineering, applied AI, and design to execute the Gus vision. Collaborate with leadership stakeholders and subject matter experts to expand Gus functionality.
Here’s what we're looking for:
8+ years of direct Product Management experience. Entrepreneurship experience and/or bringing new technology to market a plus.
Passion for AI and its transformational potential. But also pragmatic in applying it for customer and business benefit.
Experience in defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for AI products and using data to drive product improvements.
Bias to action. Ships to learn, yet can strategically sequence learnings.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Comfortable making decisions and executing in rapidly-changing environments with unknown unknowns.
Can think strategically about how AI integrated into products for a cohesive user experience, including up and downstream processes.
Our cash compensation amount for this role is $144,000/yr to $178,000/yr in Denver & most major metro locations, and $186,000/yr to $230,000/yr for San Francisco, Seattle & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
