Role Overview
As the Team Lead of Credit Operations, you will be responsible for the end-to-end operational processes related to SME lending. Your primary focus will be ensuring efficient and compliant execution of payments, managing communication with our BAAS partner-bank, and overseeing collections. To maintain operational excellence, you will work closely with internal stakeholders across risk, finance, and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Payments & Transactions Management
- Oversee loan disbursements and repayments, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Coordinate with the BAAS partner-bank to troubleshoot transaction issues and streamline payment operations.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of loan-related payments with finance and accounting teams.
- Partner & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary operational liaison with our BAAS provider, ensuring smooth collaboration on payment flows, account structures, and transaction processing.
- Work closely with internal teams (risk, finance, compliance) to align credit operations with business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Collections & Recoveries
- Implement and oversee SME loan collection processes, working with internal teams and external partners as needed.
- Monitor overdue payments, set up automated collection workflows, and manage escalations.
- Report on key collection metrics and continuously optimize recovery strategies.
- Operational Risk & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to Dutch/EU financial regulations and internal credit risk policies.
- Identify process risks and implement controls to mitigate potential operational failures.
- Support audits and regulatory reporting requirements related to credit operations.
- Process Optimization & Automation
- Improve existing workflows by introducing automation and efficiency measures.
- Collaborate with product and tech teams to enhance operational systems and reporting tools.
- Standardize and document operational procedures to support scale and growth.
Who you are
- Experience:
- 5+ years in middle or back office roles within a credit provider, fintech, or bank. Team lead experience is desirable.
- Strong background in SME lending operations within Europe.
- Experience working with BAAS partners, payment rails, and collection workflows.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of loan disbursement, repayment, and reconciliation processes.
- Knowledge of collections strategies and best practices for SME credit.
- Familiarity with Dutch/EU financial regulations, PSD2, and operational risk frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a process-improvement mindset.
- Knowledge of credit card products is an advantage.
- Experience with Metabase and/or Power BI for operational reporting and analysis is an advantage.
- Experience with JIRA for workflow management is an advantage.
- Soft Skills:
- Ability to lead and mentor operational teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
