Job Summary
The Personalization team at Spotify is seeking a leader to develop and ship impactful GenAI features. The role involves building and leading a Studio of talented engineers, setting and defining AI strategy, and delivering innovative AI systems that power Spotify's product ecosystem. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams, hands-on experience with GenAI, machine learning, and large language models, and excellent analytical thinking skills. This is a remote position with flexible work options, offering $416,749 - $595,355 plus equity, health insurance, six month paid parental leave, and more.
The Personalization team owns consumer AI at Spotify and works to give our more than 650M users the best personalized recommendations when deciding what to play next. In this role, you will lead the 'AI Foundations' studio, which develops the core ML and Gen AI systems that power all personalized experiences on Spotify. Your impact and technology leadership will extend to the entire company, and you will help Spotify remain a world leader in personalized experiences throughout the current AI revolution.
What You'll Do
Build, grow, and lead a Studio of talented engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where technical excellence thrives. Our engineers are spread out across the US and EMEA with concentrations in Boston, New York and Stockholm.
Work with executive leads across all of Spotify to set and define our AI strategy and be the leading voice of AI strategy within the company.
Architect, evangelize, and deliver innovative AI systems and capabilities that power Spotify’s product ecosystem.
Design and maintain a technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with user needs, strategic business objectives, stakeholder expectations, and technological advancements.
Define, track, and report metrics and KPIs that measure the success and impact of your team's AI solutions.
Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, aligning on strategy, vision, and execution to achieve company-wide goals.
Ensure the health, resilience, and growth of your teams, cultivating a supportive culture that drives happiness, engagement, and innovation.

Who You Are
You have 10+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams to deliver well-loved, scalable, and impactful software solutions.
You have a strong track record of defining technical strategies, gaining leadership buy-in, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and delivering GenAI-driven technologies at scale for multi million user products.
You have hands-on experience with GenAI, machine learning, large language models, and diffusion technologies, with demonstrated success in achieving measurable business impact.
You possess excellent instincts paired with deep analytical thinking, enabling you to prioritize effectively and make critical, data-driven decisions.

This team operates within the Eastern US time zone for collaboration.
The United States base range for this position is $416,749 - $595,355 plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(K) retirement plan, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave.
